Former AWU Victorian branch president Bob Kernohan has told the Heydon Royal Commission that a young Bill Shorten counselled him almost 20 years ago to "think of his future" as the frontrunner for preselection in a safe Labor seat when he insisted on exposing union officials he believed to be corrupt.
