High Court rules on tax deductibility of employment-related legal expenses

A Customs officer was entitled to claim a tax deduction for legal expenses incurred to defend disciplinary charges, the High Court has found today, in a judgment that raises the prospect of employees claiming deductions for the legal costs of a range of actions connected with keeping their jobs.
