Coal employer applied selection process unfairly: IRC

The IRC has found that Rio Tinto subsidiary Coal & Allied failed to correctly apply its selection process when it made more than 100 employees redundant at its Hunter Valley No. 1 mine in 1998, in a ruling that could cost the employer an unfair dismissal record of $20m.
